Re: Falling from grace

You asked what need is there of hell. Take my word for it, there is no need for God to create hell. I did that all alone, for myself. As it turned out, it was God manifested as my spiritual undertaking, which got me out of hell.

Re: An Interesting Course

I loved the film "Shadowlands". After that, I watched the "Chronicles of Narnia" and liked it, too. I have not read anything by Lewis about Christianity per se. Perhaps I should take this as a prod to do so.

Re: Prior Moment?

I have been absent for a long time, due to family issues. I am glad to revisit. This is a good conversation. ihavesayso is correct about silence being disturbing to so many people. Have you noticed how uncomfortable we become during silent moments in conversations? Rather than just let the silence r...

Re: Prayer

Prayer is the one activity where I always feel safe expressing vulnerability. I know I will not be judged, however stupid or weak or clumsy I appear. I try not to ask for things but instead to admit to things, including my needs, which I guess is a form of asking. Prayer is a good time for me. I alw...

Re: Parallel lives?

What if NOVA or the History Channel produced proof that ACIM was not inspired by Jesus but instead by someone named Abdullah or maybe Kumar or Running Bear? I wonder if my very positive experience with ACIM depends on my assuming the association with Jesus is real. I wish I could answer that questio...

Re: Parallel lives?

Rad's post created for me an image of one Soul with infinite faces, which are us. Which means to me that I do not have a soul, instead The Soul has me, meaning me and everyone else. I like that image a lot.

Re: A New Earth/ Oprah

I have little doubt that he would be taken down by the religious establishment of our day ... I think he would be out hanging with all of us sinners ... How do we know he is not here among us right now? In this country we seem to assume he would come to America and maybe even be an American, and th...

Re: Introduce Yourself

Here is something Sri Nisargadatta says on the subject "Reincarnation implies a reincarnating self. There is no such thing. Only those who think themselves born can think themselves re-born." I think that the theory of reincarnation is like the theory of heaven and hell, a way the time-and...

Re: Learning from our past?

If we knew (really knew) that we and everyone and everything else in the universe were immortal, invincible, untouchable, and invulnerable in every sense of the word, we would not be afraid of anything, would we, either for ourself or for anyone or anything else? Then, where would we see evil in the...

Re: Music as Word of God

Anything and everything I do, feel, see, hear or acknowledge in this plane arises from and affects some part of my soul. I agree with both Jenjulian and Art here. I think one's focus has to be on always trying to be aware of who the I is that is doing, feeling, seeing, hearing, and acknwoledging . ...

Re: A scrap of paper

ncrease and widen your desires till nothing but reality can fulfill them. It is not desire that is wrong, but its narrowness and smallness. Desire is devotion. By all means be devoted to the real, the infinite, the eternal heart of being. A big part of the problem for me is that my desires have gro...

Re: Here it is!

I remember reading Buber in college, in a required philosophy class, I think it was, and it meant absolutely nothing to me. Of course, I memorized enough to pass the exams, but beyond that, it might as well have been Greek. How I have changed.

There are few sounds on the planet which I would prefer to listen to more than the music of Antonio Vivaldi.

Re: Letting go of God

I find this thread, short as it may be so far, to be extremely thought-provoking. I wonder if that makes me a seeker by the mind? My first reaction is that I am a little bit of both, too. Anyway, thank you for these posts, which I have printed for further consideration.

Re: The Judgment of the Birds

Thank you both for sharing those stories. Violence in nature and in the streets where I live remains difficult for me to integrate. I know what the gurus and teachers say about that, and in my soul, I know that they are correct. When I am safe inside my own piece of the planet, then I can visualize ...
