Mind Stuff

Post by anna »

In a nutshell, Nisargadatta states “Nothing of value can happen to a mind which knows exactly what it wants”. The key word is value: Nisargadatta did not value the world in any way, he only valued consciousness. At the same time, he implies that the mind can have a hand in determining if anything of value happens. So – what is it that the mind must do in order for something of value to occur? Ah, there is the answer. Step aside, get out of the way, let it happen, let the light shine forth as it does anyway, but the mind obscures it by its incessant desires and concepts of what is good and what is bad, for it, and for everything else under the sun.
The world is too much with us; late and soon,
Getting and spending, we lay waste our powers........Wordsworth
