Re your comment about Alzheimers

Your comment about Alzheimers got me to thinking: I wonder how many of these individuals who are incarcerated, are simply physical shells of liberated beings who have moved on? There was a classic case of this by a master teacher in our modern day, some man named something Rose, who, shortly after b...

Re stages of life: I remember years ago when Bolen first arrived on the scene. I think she and her husband at the time were offering seminars, if memory serves me. That must have been in the 70’s? maybe? Many great teachers, both west and east (Jung was one of the western ones that pop to mind), bot...

Oh, my, how gorgeous is that?, jenjulian? Thank you so much for putting this poem up ..... it is so apt, isn't it? It sounds in many ways as well, similar to what Christian mystics experience when they refer to "the dark night of the soul." In particular, I love the last sentence.............

Transitioning from outer to inner

A friend of Zoofence recently referenced one of my Anna's Page entries referring to gurus or teachers who go bad, or "have feet of clay". This generated in my own mind some thoughts about the process of transitioning from the outer teacher to the inner which, to my mind at least, is inevit...

A Trick for remaining present

Since it is obvious, to me at least, that the more baggage we carry into our every-day existence, the more difficult it is to remain present, and to remain present, is essential to opening the heart and being here now without all the distracting noise of the mind. I like to express it more "spi...

I like the following idea that jenjulian wrote, very much: "I think of Plato and his idea of the soul being intact and when it comes into the human body it becomes jumbled and we have to unjumble and 'remember who we are.'" I had not known Plato said such a thing. It is essentially identic...

Another way to approach your question, is to understand that basically, there is no difference between a “spiritual” life and a “mundane” life, if you recognize before venturing into either “life”, that all of life is spiritual, and all of mundane life is spirituality acting out through the mundane....

Who speaks, who listens?

In any dialogue, be it mundane, or angelic (of course, everything is mundane, and everything is angelic, but for the sake of argument, I’m dividing thoughts, concepts, and its resultant dialogue into a hierarchy) – the crux to understanding another, is who, or what speaks, and who or what listens. I...

It's nice to back here - it's been a while. It occurs to me that this may be just a question of terminology, and sequence. To “remember oneself”, should be capitalized, “one’s Self” -- at least for a mind which believes in hierarchy and differentiation – which Self, capitalized, essentially is the G...

Surrendering

Speaking of surrendering. To clarify what I mean by surrender-- I mean the inevitable struggle between the ego centric vision and the giving up that position in order to embrace God and God's vision, which is non-exclusive, all inclusive, and devoid of ego-centricity. This is a struggle which each o...

In Defense of a God

I once might have called myself an atheist, or at best, an agnostic during my 20's. I thought my intellect was enough, that knowledge and understanding of the universe would suffice to allow me to get through life with a modicum of comfort and reliability. And indeed, in my youth, with all my vigor ...

Looking for Love in All The Wrong Places

How's that song go? "Lookin' for love in all the wrong places......" In all the years of advising, or responding, to queries from seekers who are discouraged because they can't find God, or peace, or happiness, despite all their practices, almost without fail, when they dig a little deeper...

My Exclusive God

I just completed reading the biography of C.S. Lewis - I had heard so much adoration about this guy, that I felt I ought to check him out first hand. While his conversion to Christianity was an interesting topic, and was the primary reason I read the biography, I had actually recently seen the movie...

Yes, yes, the word "for" - indeed, that word explicitely indicates the duality of action which most of us live within. Without "for", there is no longer a subject/object relationship, is there? So, if one were to take that word, and observe its use constantly within one's own con...

Hmmmmmmmm, I like that very much. Perhaps the difference between his action, Ramana's, and the ordinary human being is that the latter would already be attached to the stick. Of course, along with the activity of smoothing the stick, came the gorgeous co-existence of another in need of a stick - who...
